The Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) service will allow you to do the following:
- Create a first time profile to start using the service (you must know your login credentials).
- Create a new password if you have forgotten your password (requires the above option).
You can access this service from the MyLIU login page.
In order to avoid potential security hazards while resetting your password it is heavily advised to do so using the secure mode of your browser if you are on a public computer.
Go to the options button on the upper right of your browser and select “ New Private Window” from the drop down.
Go to the options button on the upper right of your browser and select “ New Incognito Window” from the drop down.
Go to the menu at top and click “Safari” then “Private Browsing…” Say yes to the next dialogue.
Go to the options button on the upper right of your browser and select “Safety” then “InPrivate Browsing” from the drop down.
Enroll in the SSPR service.
- Enter your username and password then click “Login”.
- You’ll be prompted to then answer a Captcha question. Click “Continue” when done.
The first page of the self-service questions will appear. You will need to answer at least 5 out of the 15 questions.
(Click the left or right arrows to cycle through the list of questions.)
Once you have created your security questions click on the link to continue.
Enter your phone number.
Specify if that number can receive text messages.
Choose the phone provider from the drop down menu.
If you selected a phone number that can receive text messages then check your phone for a One-Time Password.
Enter the One-Time Password in the field provided and click “Continue.”
You will be prompted again letting you know that your information is stored. Click the link to go back to the MyLIU login page.
- After clicking on “ Reset your Password” You will be prompted to enter your user name. Click “Continue.”
Select “ Reset Forgotten Password” then answer the Captcha question. Click “Continue.”
Answer 3 out of your 5 chosen security questions, then click “Continue.” Note that your answers are NOT case sensitive.
A text message will be sent to your phone containing a one time use verification code. Enter it in the bottom field and click “Continue.”
If the verification code is correct you will then be allowed to change your password. Be sure to enter the exact same thing in both fields. Click “ Continue” when done.
Note: You’re New password MUST meet the following criteria:
Must be at least 12 characters long.
It must also meet at least 3 of the following criteria:
Must have at least 1 lowercase character.
Must have at least 1 uppercase character.
Must have at least 2 numeric characters.
Must have at least 1 special character.
You have now successfully changed your MyLIU password. Click the link to return to the MyLIU Page.
